A very special aspect of our region is the hospitality. The local food products and gastronomic delicacies attract visitors from far away. Let's show you some examples of local specialities :
Cheese : Bouquet des Moines (Aubel), Remoudou or Tros de Sottais (Herve), maquée de la Gleize (Stoumont)
Products derived from fruit : Liège Syrup "sirop de Liège" (Herve) * or cider (Aubel, Thimister)

Ever since the 17th century, a good number of farmers in the Herve district have owned a copper cauldron and a press to make fruit syrups from the apples and pears in their orchards. The process began to be industrialized around 1880, while the famous recipe, Genuine Liège Syrup, a concoction of Clement II Meurens, dates from 1937. Thanks to its acidulous taste, Sirop de Liège will add flavour when you are preparing game, meatballs, grills and much, much more.
Pâtisseries and desserts : the Lunettes de l'Ascension (Verviers et Dison), the cakes from Verviers, rice cake "la tarte au riz", vautchon or Bouquêtes (Verviers), the Baisers (Malmédy), the Printen or the Jacques chocolates (East cantons)
