Ever since the 17th century, a good number of farmers in the Herve district have owned a copper cauldron and a press to make fruit syrups from the apples and pears in their orchards. The process began to be industrialized around 1880, while the famous recipe, Genuine Liège Syrup, a concoction of Clement II Meurens, dates from 1937. Thanks to its acidulous taste, Sirop de Liège will add flavour when you are preparing game, meatballs, grills and much, much more.
